On vinyl, algae and mildew feed on the dust/pollen film, causing green/black staining and holding moisture that accelerates grime buildup and can highlight oxidation (that chalky fade). On brick and mortar, moss and mold anchor into pores, trap moisture, and can contribute to efflorescence and premature joint wear; keeping the surface drier between rains helps reduce spalling risk.
